The Chester County Library Trust, a 501(c)3 organization, was established to bridge the gap between traditional funding sources and community needs. The goal of the Trust is to develop financial resources to build collections, expand library programs and services, and support projects the libraries cannot afford through operating budgets.

Museum Passes

The Museum Pass program offers free admission to 23 cultural institutions, including museums, gardens, and a zoo. This program has helped thousands of Chester County residents visit cultural institutions at no cost, and supports the Trust’s goal of encouraging lifelong learning.

StoryWalk®

In partnership with The Pearl Foundation, StoryWalk® is an early literacy initiative located in Exton Park. The twenty reading stations along a half-mile paved walk promote health and literacy in children by encouraging exercise and reading.

Virtual Reality Equipment

Both libraries offer equipment for patrons to explore the world of virtual reality, for entertainment and education. Users experience virtual learning, such as completely building a car engine from scratch, in full 3 dimensions.

Programs

Nearly 18,000 adult residents participated in one of 1,166 programs offered by the library in 2021. Our free programs offer a wide range of topics and training and promote adult literacy and lifelong learning. The Trust purchases program equipment such as STEM science kits and cooking demonstration tables in support of adult and children’s programs.

MakerSpace at Henrietta Hankin Branch

In 2022, the Trust funded a new MakerSpace, a place in which people with interests in computing or technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge. The MakerSpace allows patrons to use digital media and tools to inspire creativity to learn, collaborate, and explore. Newly installed equipment such as a Cricut maker, Nomad CNC Mill, spiral coil and binding machine, and sewing machines allow users to bring their imagination to life.
