Book Donations

Chester County Library and District Center

The Friends of the Chester County Library will stop accepting donations on Monday, March 18 through Monday, April 29. Please join us for the Spring Book Sale, April 12-14.

The Chester County Library accepts books and audio visual items that are in good condition. The Library does not accept textbooks, outdated encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, or magazines.

Gifts of materials are sometimes added to the Library’s collection in accordance with its Materials Selection Policy. However, most of them are sold by the Friends of the Chester County Library during their semi-annual book sales. The proceeds from these sales help support the library.

There is a drop off box located behind the Chester County Library. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, you can leave the materials in the back lobby during open hours and take a blue form for your records. The Library will not place a value on the materials donated.
